Can you understand the architectural structure of this cinema

球幕飞行影院

Ball screen flying cinema

The movie shown in the dome theater is a type of large screen movie with clear pixels. When watching, there will be a three-dimensional surround sound, as if you are in the scene at that time, and the effect is relatively good. Do you know what the building structure of this device is? Let me first give you a brief explanation of the simple structure and composition of this device.

Due to the fact that the main body of the dome shaped cinema building is a hemisphere and the diameter of the sphere is so large (the diameter of the dome shaped cinema sphere shell reaches 35 meters), the construction itself is much more complex than that of ordinary buildings. Construction projects such as installation of ball grid frames, fixation of screens, exhaust and ventilation in the hall, and fire alarms are difficult points in the construction process. Especially in the field of architectural acoustics treatment. In order to avoid and reduce sound gathering at the center of the sphere, the sound focusing center cannot be designed on the audience seat, but above the audience. From the perspective of the projection system, due to the fact that the screen of a regular 35mm movie is only a few dozen square meters, the xenon lamp of the projector requires 2 to 3 kilowatts, and even 15 kilowatts. Cooling and heat dissipation have become one of the technical difficulties for such a large light source.

The projection equipment in the ball screen cinema not only requires air cooling at the lens, but also water cooling. In addition, the fisheye lens of the projector is another technology, which not only has high luminous flux and high image clarity, but also strives to eliminate color difference and minimize spherical aberration to reduce image distortion. Due to the fact that 70mm films have an area several times larger than 35mm films, the film transfer speed is correspondingly increased during projection. Therefore, the 70mm film series includes specifications such as 5mm, 8mm, 10mm, and 15mm. The 70mm 10 hole film "The Grand Canyon" currently being screened in the dome theater of the China Science and Technology Museum is a condensed copy of 70mm 15 hole film.

From the analysis of the sound restoration system, compared with traditional film magnetization or sound to light conversion methods, dome screen movies adopt a multi track recording system for playback, which is played through multiple professional audio equipment. In order to further improve the quality of sound restoration, some dome movie theaters internationally have adopted multi-channel laser sound restoration methods. The sound restoration method of the dome shaped movie theater at the China Science and Technology Museum relies on an eight track recorder to use the six channel accompanying sound signals on a magnetic tape as the sound source. After multi-level signal processing and amplification, the sound is played back by six sets of speakers behind the screen.
